The Longest Night

Solstice means "the sun stands still." At solstices, the movement of the Sun's path, as seen from Earth, comes to a stop before reversing direction. For this annual celestial event, the sun's daily maximum elevation in the sky is at it's lowest. The longest night is nearly upon us. For millennia, winter solstice celebrations have heralded the return of the light, the Sun God is reborn and festivals of light are celebrated throughout the world. The Christ archetype represents the Godself in each of us, the divine light becoming human. The remembrance of Jesus Christ's holy birth is observed on December 25th, just following the solstice in alignment with the return of the light. Centuries before Christianity replaced the cults of Rome, the same date commemorated the birth of Mithra and later Sol Invictus (Invincible Sun), the official Sun God of the Roman empire.

At CoSM, the Winter Solstice Celebration will warm your soul this chilly Saturday evening with extraordinary Visionary Art and Music, friends and fascination!

At 8pm, get comfortable in the library around a blazing fire for our presentation on the Winter Solstice from a multicultural perspective. On your feet again, get ready for the electronic music wizardry of the sensational G Jones, Russ Liquid, Space Jesus, Schlang, DJedi and Psylander. Dance to the rebirth of the light and dispel your darkness into the blazing bonfire with Phantomime. Co-create a Winter Solstice Sand Mandala initiated by Rosie & Mike. Artist friends will be painting throughout the house, so you can witness beatific visions coming to light. Check out for Winter Solstice details on dancing, visual projections, fire spinners and more…

In the painting Holy Family the golden child points upward toward the One Light illuminating all wisdom traditions. A halo of enlightened vision surrounding the child's head, brings together symbols of world religions. Although danger lurks below, parents adore the child with the earth as it's heart, carrying hope for the future of humanity.

Winter Solstice

Eternally, the light returns in the Heavens
In cycles of light and darkness to Earth,
Touching our Hearts where love is cradled.
Christ, the Godself, is reborn in us,
Illuminating and healing any breach with Spirit.
Christ, the Godself, is our highest possibility,
A bridge of spectral Light
Both personal and universal,
From the gross material to subtle astral,
To visionary jewels,
Originating as One Transcendental Ground,
Sundered from all twoness.
Christ, the Godself, reborn as the light of Spirit,
Glowing in our heart manger.

allyson grey entheon

As we watch the concrete blocks stack up creating the outer wall of the first floor of Entheon, we contemplate the nobility of concrete.

The earliest large-scale users of concrete technology were the ancient Romans. The Pantheon, built 125 AD, is considered the best-preserved of all Ancient Roman buildings and claims the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. Today, concrete is the most widely used man-made material. Seeing the drab block wall enclose the temple, we project from our mind's eye the concrete sculptures, the many faces of spirit joining together, leading upward to one all-seeing steeple head. Please contribute what you can toward realizing the potential beauty of Entheon. Thank you all this holiday season for opening the CoSM newsletter and sharing this journey. From every corner of the globe we are connected and feel your love.
